Information for Travelers
Below you’ll find information on how to get to White Sands Missile Range. Safe travels to all of our participants!
El Paso International Airport is the closest large airport to White Sands Missile Range. There is no bus service to White Sands Missile Range from any of the regional cities.
If you are in the region without your own personal vehicle, you will need to consider renting a car.
If you are staying in one of the neighboring cities, Las Cruces is about an hour’s drive from the airport via I-10. It is about an hour’s drive from the airport to Alamogordo, N.M., via Highway 54
White Sands Missile Range is about 46 miles North of El Paso, which is about a 51-minute drive.
Follow these general directions from the El Paso area:
- Take US-54 E and Farm to Market Rd 3225 to NM-213 N in Doña Ana County, NM, cross Texas/NM border toward Alamogordo, NM.
- Continue on NM-213 N until you reach White Sands Missile Range.

Directions from Las Cruces
Follow these general directions from the Las Cruces area:
- Take US-70 E/ N Main Street.
- Follow US-70 E to NM-213 S.
- Take the exit toward Missile Range/Headquarters from US-70 E.
- Turn right onto NM-213 S., and follow to White Sand Missile Range.

Directions from Alamogordo
Follow these general directions from the Alamogordo area:
- Take US-70 W towards Las Cruces.
- Continue onto US-70 W/S. White Sands Blvd.
- Take the exit toward Missile Range/Headquarters
- Continue onto NM-213 S until you reach White Sands Missile Range.
